Frequently Asked Questions

1. How quickly will I receive an offer?

Most submissions receive an initial response the same business day. Unusual, vintage or high-end bicycles may require additional research. Clear photos and complete information will help us respond faster. All offers are subject to an in-person inspection.

2. How do you determine value?
We consider the bicycle’s brand, model, year, size, components, condition, local and national demand, recent comparable sales and any repairs it may need. We base our offers on realistic selling prices—not inflated online asking prices.

3. Do you pay cash or issue a check?
We can generally pay by Venmo, Zelle  or company check, depending on the purchase amount. We will confirm the payment method before your appointment. Payment is issued after we inspect the bicycle, verify ownership and agree on the final price.

4. Do I need identification?
Yes. Sellers must provide a valid government-issued photo ID. We also record the bicycle’s serial number and require the seller to confirm that they legally own the bicycle and have the right to sell it.

5. Do I need to prove that I own the bicycle?
Yes. You must present a valid government-issued photo ID and sign a declaration confirming that you are the bicycle’s lawful owner and have the right to sell it. Providing false ownership or identification information to a secondhand dealer is illegal under Colorado law. We record each bicycle’s serial number and may decline any bicycle whose ownership cannot be reasonably verified.

6. Do I need the original receipt?
An original receipt is helpful, but it is not always required. Other proof of ownership—such as registration records, service receipts, photographs or purchase documentation—may also help. We will not purchase a bicycle if its ownership or serial number appears questionable.

7. Why is your offer below private-sale value?
Selling to us is different from selling directly to another rider. We inspect, repair, clean, photograph, advertise, store and stand behind the bicycle. We also pay marketplace fees and assume the risk that the bicycle may take months to sell, be returned or require additional repairs. Our offer reflects those expenses and risks. In exchange, you avoid creating listings, answering messages, meeting strangers, negotiating, accepting questionable payments and waiting for a buyer.

8. Do you buy damaged bikes?
Sometimes. We may purchase bicycles that need normal mechanical repairs or cosmetic work. Serious frame damage, cracked carbon, missing major components or repairs that exceed the bicycle’s value may prevent us from making an offer. Send clear photographs and describe all known damage before scheduling an appointment.

9. Do you buy e-bikes?
Yes, we purchase selected quality e-bikes. The bicycle should have its original battery, correct charger and keys when applicable. We will consider the brand, motor system, battery age, battery condition, safety certification, replacement-parts availability and overall condition.
We generally do not purchase heavily modified e-bikes, unidentified batteries or electrical systems that cannot be safely inspected and serviced.

10. Do you pick bikes up?
Most purchases are completed by appointment at our Wheat Ridge location. Pickup may be available for selected bicycles within the Denver metropolitan area, depending on the bicycle’s value, condition and location. Please send the bicycle’s information and photos before requesting pickup.

11. Can I trade my bike toward a new bike at 303 Bike Shop?
Yes. If we purchase your bicycle, its agreed value may be applied toward an eligible bicycle at 303 Bike Shop. The purchase value of your used bicycle and the price of the new bicycle will be shown separately so the transaction remains clear.

12. What happens to my information?

We use your information to evaluate your bicycle, communicate with you, schedule an appointment, verify ownership and maintain legally required transaction records. We do not sell your personal information.
Certain purchase and bicycle information may be retained or reported when required by applicable secondhand-dealer laws or law-enforcement procedures. Marketing messages are sent only with appropriate consent, and you may opt out of promotional communications at any time.

Proof of Ownership Notice Colorado law requires anyone selling a bicycle to a secondhand dealer to provide accurate ownership and identification information. Knowingly providing false information is a class 2 misdemeanor under C.R.S. § 18-13-114(6)(b).
By selling a bicycle to Bicycles Wanted, you confirm that you are its lawful owner and have the legal right to sell it.
Bicycles Wanted reserves the right to refuse any bicycle whose ownership cannot be reasonably verified.
